Why is my senior dog limping, shivering, and in leg pain for days?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 10 years and 1 month old | 8 lbs

Hi, my 10 year old has not been able to put pressure on her legs for a few days. She’s done this before but only for a day or two but it’s past that. She will let me touch it and rub it but not put a lot of pressure on it. She also shivers quite a bit when she’s still. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks

It sounds like Eve is in pain. She could have torn or strained a ligament in her leg. Given that this has been ongoing for a couple of days, it's time to see the vet. I'd take her into a vet now to get checked out. Best of luck.
