My senior dog has a growing tumor on his belly. Should I worry?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I have an eleven year old Chihuahua since last July. He has a mass/tumor on his belly near his penis. I know it is not cancerous and does not seem to cause pain. It has gotten larger. I am going to Petco this Saturday for the $89 healthy dog plus and will get him a rabies shot. Should I be concerned about this tumor? Thank you. Jeff P.

Hi Jeff. Yes, I would be worried about this mass especially if it's gotten larger. I'm not sure how you know it's not cancerous unless you've had tests done it, but if you haven't, in a dog his age there is always a chance any mass is cancerous. This needs to be checked out by a vet as well.
