What wet and dry food helps my senior dog's smelly bum and gas?

I recommend the brand Royal Canin. It is highly digestible without fillers so pets generally have only a small amount of stool production. It is also a great brand for healthy coat and skin. I also like the brand Purina Proplan. I hope this helps.

You didn't mention if the gas or diet was a recent change, but if the diet is the same and the gas and eating stool is new, then it certainly wouldn't be a bad idea to have your veterinarian examine Gizzy just to be on the safe side. There are a large number of reasons that dogs will eat their own stool. If your vet examines Gizzy and does not find any medical cause for his problems, certainly a diet change is a good thing to try. Hi there. I suggest you use a probiotic for Bentley. Fortiflora is my favorite but you can use any probiotic made for dogs (no human products or dairy). I would give it daily for one month to see if there are any changes. The probiotic adds "good bacteria" to his intestinal tract that may quiet the gas. So, I suggest you speak to your vet about deworming him. Finally, diet recommendations for dogs with gas is a diet that is highly digestible with low fibre and low fat content. If this is the only sign you could try changing to a highly digestible diet (like Hill’s i/d or Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat) as long as she doesn’t have any food intolerances or diseases requiring a therapeutic diet. Sometimes I also have people try a probiotic like Fortiflora. If she has also had a decrease in appetite, diarrhea or weight loss you should see your veterinarian.

Great question! The brands I like include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. Iams is an excellent, affordable food which I feed to my own dogs. They love it. If you want a supermarket brand, Purina One is the best. Should you switch Brooklyn's diet, be sure to do it slowly to avoid GI upset. I hope this helps!

If his dental disease is that significant, and his mouth bacteria is making that bad of a smell, I would recommend having his teeth evaluated by a veterinarian and possibly having a dental. Bacteria in the mouth are not only bad for a dog's teeth, but they also can lead to bacterial translocation to the heart and kidneys, which can lead to substantial health issues long-term. At his age, I would recommend a senior dog food; there are many good options, including Purina Bright Minds, Acana, and multiple others. A good quality senior food (grain free or not) would most likely be a good option, and then having his teeth issues addressed. Good luck!
