My senior dog has a deep draining sore on his hind leg. What is it?

Poor Scrappy. It is difficult to see details as the picture is blurry. It almost looks like a mass in the picture. I would make she isn't licking or scratching it. I would put a cone collar on her to prevent the licking if needed. I would also have your vet take a look at it. With how red and ulcerated it is, she likely needs some antibiotics and may need to have it removed. I hope this helps.

This kind of lesion/blister needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. What i am seeing in the pictures is likely a sebaceous cyst that ruptured. These are common with older dogs and are benign. When these rupture there is a chance they will become infected so the best treatment is to have it removed to prevent this from happening. Hello. This is a small tumor, probably benign, but since it looks a bit irritated I would have your veterinarian take a look. It may just require a watch & wait to see if it continues to be irritated, or your veterinarian may suggest removal & histopathology to identify the tissue type & make sure there is not anything further to be concerned about. Hi. Unfortunately this looks like more then a cyst. This could be a cancerous tumor that has become irritated and ulcerated. Based on this photo , it appears it should be removed and biopsied. If it isn't a cancerous tumor and is largely a cyst of some kind, it would still be best to remove it because of how irritated it is. It will eventually bother Adel a lot as well

I think you should have Bliss evaluated by your vet. This growth could be a tumor, a cyst, a lymph node or an abscess. Just by looking at it I would guess it is a tumor but it is difficult to say just by looking at a photo. She will need to be examined by your vet so you can get a diagnosis and then a treatment plan.

Any lumps/bumps/sores that you notice on your dog should be checked out by your vet. They are usually one of three things: * abscess (infection) * cyst * cancer There is no way I can tell you what it is via the internet especially without examining her myself. At her age I would be very worried about a tumor.
