My senior dog has black bumps on his chin and near his mouth.

Pet's info: Dog | Manchester Terrier(Toy) | Male | neutered | 9 years and 9 months old | 21 lbs

Hi, i was wondering what these 2 or so black-like-bumps or moles are on my dog's chin& under close to his mouth , he is around 10 years old or so, rescue Manchester terrier dog 21+- pounds. He is not the easiest dog to take to the vet hard to control at clinic. He also had a fall from the couch several months ago, and he likes sitting in the sun everyday for vitamin D, and there was also a dog who tried to bite face once, so i'm not sure if these moles are related to any of this or from skin?Thx

It is hard to say for sure by just these pictures but they look like skin tags. If they are hard, growing, bleeding or bothering him, I would have him seen by your vet. Otherwise, you could just watch them for any change. I hope this helps!

I agree that the first picture appears to be a skin tag and the second picture looks like it could be a cyst or perhaps a Sebaceous adenoma. I am not too concerned about these masses, but obviously an examination is far better than an evaluation of a picture. My older dog has new skin tags and bumps. Should I be concerned?

As long as he is behaving normally otherwise, you can monitor the lumps at home. Older dogs are more prone to these growths. Unfortunately, it is difficult to determine which ones you should worry about without a physical exam and diagnostics. Monitor them for rapid change or growth, discharge, pain associated with a mass or a mass that restricts motion. If necessary, your veterinarian can perform a fine needle aspirate in the clinic to collect samples for pathology. This could identify which lumps are of concern. Discuss treatment options after results are returned.

My senior dog has a black lump under his chin. Should I worry?

Its hard to say if Junior's growth is worrisome or not without sampling it. In general most skin masses are benign but obviously there is always a change it malignant (which would be bad). The safest option would be to take him to the vet to have it aspirated. In general this will tell if it is benign or if you need to worried. Any changes in size or consistency are also worrisome so watch it closely. In my opinion, its better to be safe. Best of luck!

Why are my dog's pink chin bumps turning black and not going away?

These could be harmless skin growths like adenoma/warts. They could also be cysts(again usually not harmful) as well as infected glands. Sometimes monitoring them and watching for any change in their color, size, or any discharge from them is ok. If they have any of those changes then Millie would need to be seen by a veterinarian. I would not recommend applying any topical ointment to them at this time.

My dog has growing black growths he bites. What can I do for him?

From the looks of the pictures, they look like benign adenomas or skin tags which are common in older dogs. If she is chews at them, you could try 50mg (2 tablets) of adult benadryl twice a day to help with the itching. You can also place a cone collar on her to prevent the chewing. If the chewing won't stop, any of them start to look infected, or any of them are getting bigger, then I would recommend to see a vet to ensure they do not look cancerous.

My senior dog has a growing lump on his tummy. Is it serious?

Hi and thank you for posting your question! From the picture, it looks like a skin tag which can grow over time and become larger. Usually these are not anything to worry too much about, although if it starts to become larger, red, swollen, or infected, you may want to have your veterinarian take a closer look. You can always have the mass aspirated and a sample sample taken from it to see if it is anything concerning. That is the only way to really definitively diagnosis any mass. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! As dogs age, they can develop a variety of skin tumors, some benign (non-cancerous) and others cancerous. I do recommend all abnormal growths be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine if they are an issue or not. Many of these can be diagnosed with an analysis of a needle sample. Good luck!
