How much food should my 12-week-old Rough Collie puppy eat daily?

Trusty is a beautiful boy! The best thing you can for Trusty which is feeding a high quality dog food. Trusty does need to eat a large breed puppy formula. Stick with ProPlan or Royal Canin. I'm not sure the diet you are feeding is the correct one. It will say on the bag if it is intended for large breed puppies. He should eat this until he is 12 months old. Growth is genetic. A dog will not be any bigger than it's genes allow for. Growth in large breed dogs also needs to be slow to help prevent orthopedic conditions like dysplasia. Additionally, he will continue to grow (in height) until he is 12 months old. He will begin to fill out from 12-18 months of age (roughly). As a border collie, I would assume that she has a fairly active energy level and is utilizing the majority of calories she is eating. If she seems extra hungry, I do think it would be fine to increase her food to 1/3 cup three times a day and then re-evaluate her weight and appetite in a week. Pedigree puppy food is fine to feed your puppy, but you don't have to mix it with water as he is old enough to eat solid food. Trusty can of course eat dry food! Sometimes if they seem uninterested you can add a little warm water to soften the food but this most likely is not needed. I would recommend sticking with a basic hard puppy food and not mixing in human foods. Giving human food to dogs is a hard habit to break the earlier you start it. IF Trusty is on a well rounded dog food she should not need supplementation. Hope that helps
