I would strongly recommend talking to your vet (or having the owner talk to his vet) about anti-anxiety/ behavior modificatiion medication which can make a huge difference in making Nugget AND you more relaxed and comfortable. It's likely that Ivy is just really excited and showing this by barking. Obviously this is unwanted behavior. You need to start training impulse control and teaching her to sit or place before people come over. Treat her for calm behavior and slowly progress to gradually introducing people when she is well behaved. If she is barking she gets ignored as petting her cuddling her will encourage it.

That is definitely not a good. You could contact a trainer in your area and have him/her work with your dog to try to change this unwanted behavior. Your vet could definitely try some Prozac or Trazodone and see if it helps but he probably will need behavior modification training, as well.

If he still will not take treats in this situation, then this means that he's too worried or anxious to eat - in that case, you will need to find a way to make the situation easier for him (possibly by removing him from the room until the person sits down and gets settled, then bringing him back in), or he may need anti-anxiety medication in the beginning to help. This is a very difficult problem. This is link to a behavioral issue that can be resolved with training. I would recommend asking a trainer to come into the house to help you. Also I would start working on basic commands, like sit, come and stay. That way when people come over you can re direct Ripley. IT will be very helpful to have someone like a trainer work with you one on one. I hope that helps
