You can get sick from handling it, and even sick from him licking you because the bacteria lives on his tongue for hours afterwards. I have a vet colleague that just saw an 8 month old puppy who was fed a rad diet and due to the nutritional deficiencies had broken his hip and had severe bone deformities. Home made raw runs the risk of being deficient in nutrients and not appropriately balanced. Raw runs the risk of food born illnesses in the dog and human (salmonella). You can try changing puppy foods and supplementing with a vitamin but it usually isn't due to diet. I would walk Lisa and immediately pick up her stool. have her learn the "leave it" and "come" commands so you can distract her from eating the stool. I like the muzzle gentle leader harnesses as they make it easy to pull the face away from things. Overall it is a disgusting habit that has to be managed by the owner. I wish you and Lisa the best!

I would also make sure to feed him a puppy-specific diet until he is at least 1 year old, and seek out a large-breed puppy formula, which helps to prevent hip problems as he grows. I wouldn't worry as much about meat - the most important nutrients for growth at his stage are fat and calories (which are found in puppy formulas).
