My 4-month-old puppy has watery diarrhea for 3 days. Is he okay?

I recommend giving Chico a bland diet, boiled chicken and white rice. If he becomes lethargic, there is blood or he isn't eating then I recommend taking Chico to a veterinarian. Also if the diarrhea isn't resolving after another day I would consider taking him to a veterinarian. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. Thanks for the question. I'm glad to hear that Fenris is still playing and eating, but I am concerned that the stool is so watery. Yes, it is always possible that this is just a dietary issue, however because it has been going on for 4 days, and is so watery, I'm concerned that this is something infectious. At 11 weeks my main concern is parvovirus, however most of these pups act really sick, but it is still possible. Other possibilities are things like giardia, coccidia, or a viral infection. I recommend collecting a sample of the diarrhea in a bag or container and bringing it to a veterinarian for testing. They will be able to determine if there is a specific medication that is needed to fix the problem. Puppies this age don't have a lot of reserves, and can become dehydrated quickly. I'm happy that Fenris seems to be otherwise feeling okay so far, but I would feel better getting the diarrhea under control before it becomes a more serious problem. Do you mean really runny poop? If he has watery diarrhea, I would strongly recommend to have a vet look at him. Being so young and small, he could easily get dehydrated despite drinking water. Diarrhea can be from several things like parasites, a change in diet, viral infections like parvo, toxins and much more. You can try to feed him some plain boiled boneless skinless chicken and white rice to see if this settles his tummy. If he isn’t improving, I would have your vet take a look at him. Hello. This may have been a one off episode of diarrhea, only time will tell. I would stop all treats, table scraps, dental treats, rawhide snacks, etc. for the time being, & just feed his regular diet. If he has an appetite, but has another bout of diarrhea, then start him on a bland diet of 75% cooked white rice ( not Minute or instant rice ) & 25% plain cooked chicken or a little low fat cottage cheese. Feed this for a couple of days to see if the diarrhea resolves, then reintroduce the normal diet. If Paco stops eating, starts vomiting, or the diarrhea just will not resolve, please see your veterinarian for further diagnostics. If Kiki has mild diarrhea but is acting normal and has a good appetite, she may have ingested something she shouldn't have - puppies explore the world with their mouth, and sometimes they eat things that can upset their GI tracts! You can give her some bland food (white rice and lowfat cooked chicken) and see if it improves in the next day or two. Many mild cases of diarrhea are self-limiting and will resolve with bland food. If, however, the diarrhea is severe, or is accompanied by a decreased appetite or vomiting, or continues more than a couple days, Kiki should be seen by a vet. Diarrhea can be caused by many things including stress, diet changes, and infections, and your vet will be able to help differentiate what's going on and start her on medication if needed. Diarrhea doesn't mean Panfilo is going to die. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.
