My 6-month-old husky puppy hasn't had vaccinations. Is it too late?

Not to worry! You can go to the vet at any time and start a series of vaccinations. At the age of almost six months, any vaccine is safe to administer. If Bowser has never received any vaccine previously, he may require more than one to complete the series and receive adequate protection. Depending on your geographic location and inherent risk, certain vaccines may be recommended over others. Wish you and Bowser the best!

Congratultions on your puppies! We normally start vaccinating at 6 to 8 weeks of age. At 6 weeks of age we can start what some call the "distemper vaccine" or the "DAPP" (helps protect against Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza). The Bordetella vaccine is normally given after 8 weeks of age and the Rabies vaccine after 12 weeks of age. If at 5 months, this will be the first time he will be receiving vaccines, then I would recommend he receive his rabies vaccine and distemper-hepatitis-parvovirus vaccine as well as bordetella if he will be around other dogs or kenneled. He will need a booster of the distemper and bordetella in 3-4 weeks. At your first appointment with Sash's vet, you and the veterinarian can decide what other vaccines are recommended based on Sash's risk level and health status. I hope this helps!

Both dogs should get their first vaccines starting at 6- 8 weeks of age. They should then have boosters around 10-12 weeks, then at 16-20 weeks. They should also receive a vaccine a year later. I hope that helps and all is well with your dogs.

I do not trust the vaccines sold at feed stores or pet stores. We cannot ensure that they have been handled appropriately or kept at the correct temperatures to be able to work. I would recommend that you take Iroh to a vet clinic or even shot clinic to be vaccinated. At his age, two vaccines for distemper/parvo/adenovirus/parainfluenze at 1 month apart is sufficient for 1 year's protection. He is also required to be vaccinated for rabies by a vet. Depending on your lifestyle, the vet or clinic may recommend additional vaccinations to keep him protected.

Good job on thinking to booster her vaccinations. Her last vaccination needs to be given when she is a minimum of 16 weeks old (4 months) and a minimum of 2 vaccinations. Which based on your timeline I assume Has occurred but you should verify the dates you vaccinated. Also, I am unclear if she was ever vaccinated for rabies virus. This is very important and can only be administered by a veterinarian. You may also want to consider vaccinating for bordetella and possibly canine influenza if your state has had any outbreaks. If Beaux only had a vaccination at 6 weeks of age, he will likely need 2 more DAPP vaccinations 2-4 weeks apart. He will also need a Rabies vaccination and may need a Bordatella vaccination for a training class. I would recommend contacting your local training facility to find out what vaccinations they require (because some are now also requiring influenza vaccination depending on the location), then schedule an appointment with a veterinarian to determine the best vaccine schedule for Beaux to be fully protected from the vaccinations. If he only had a vaccination at 6 weeks of age, then he is NOT considered protected, so I would not recommend taking him to a training class without consulting with a veterinarian. Good luck!
