Can my puppy take tapeworm medicine while on Albon for coccidia?

It is unusual to see such a young dog get a UTI. I would have the urine tested if it has not been tested already. An antibiotic such as clavamox would be used to treat the infection. No. The over the counter medications are impossible to dose for a 1.5# dog. You will overdose her. Not only that but coccidia is a protozoan parasite and many over the counter medications do not treat this. The dewormer i usually recommend is called Drontal plus, bear in mind that unlike the flea/tick products, dewormers do not protect your dog from future infestation, it only kills the worms on spot. for fleas and ticks i usually recommend Bravecto tablet or Advantix spot on. all these medications are considered to be high quality and safe.

Hello. There have been some reports of drug resistance with tapeworms. I would talk to your vet about either upping the dose of the praziquantel or trying an alternate drug called epsiprantal. As long as Bobo is eating and drinking, playful, and overall acting normal, I wouldn't be worried at all :) Coccidia can take a while to clear up in some cases, up to 10-14 days after starting Albon. The Flagyl should also help, but it often takes at least 48 hours to begin having any effect. So as long as your puppy is acting fine, I would just continue the medication as directed for the full course of treatment. If his stool is still runny once he has completed all of his medication, take him back to your vet for a recheck. If he still has coccidia at that point, he may need treatment with a different drug such as ponazuril to clear the infection.

Those look like tapeworms, which requires praziquantel to treat. That is a prescription medication, so you will need to take Kiko into the vet to get Drontal (which contains praziquantel) to treat it.
