My puppy chewed a sandal and swallowed a small piece. Is he okay?

While it is unlikely to cause an intestinal obstruction, the splinters from the wood may get lodged in his gums. I recommend keeping a close eye on Hachi for signs such as lethargy, loss of appetite, or vomiting as these may be signs of an obstruction. You can prevent Hachi from chewing furniture by making sure he has plenty of teething toys available and by appropriately disciplining him when he does chew on the furniture. Given it was a small size, it should pass fine on it's own. I wouldn't take Bentley into the vet now. You can monitor him for signs of obstruction (vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, constipation), but he should be fine :-)

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Hachi! He is so cute! If Hachi ate the one the black buttons on the bottom it could be stuck in his intestines. He is a small dog. The only way to know if it is stuck requiring surgery is to take him to the Emergency hospital for an exam and belly X-rays. If he has an obstruction, time is of the essence and he should have it removed as soon as possible, meaning today versus tomorrow. Other causes of vomiting are possible: parasites, viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion, food allergy or intolerance, etc. I hope this helps and I wish Hachi the best!!

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that Bear has given you a scare. If she got off a small piece of fabric and ingested it, it will probably pass on its own with no trouble. If the piece was large or had any plastic bits attached to it, keep a very close eye on her for any signs of vomiting, lethargy, or diarrhea, as they may be symptoms of an obstruction. Bring her to the vet right away if any of these symptoms develop. It is very unlikely that she inhaled the piece, but do also keep an eye out for any further coughing or breathing difficulty, as this would also warrant an immediate trip to the vet's office. I am sorry to hear about Zeus! Hopefully this piece is small enough it will pass through the GI tract without issue. I would recommend giving him a few teaspoons of canned pumpkin with his food the next few days to increase his fiber intake and hopefully aid in easy pooping! You do want to monitor for signs of obstruction which include vomiting, decreased appetite and energy level, and abdominal pain. Hi, I think if the pieces of plastic are quite small, they are likely to pass through his tummy without causing any issues. At this point in time, you can keep an eye for any signs relating to gastro-intestinal problems. Is Cashew eating well and passing normal faeces ? Is any sickness occurring ? If you haven't noticed any abnormal signs, you just ned to keep an eye on his faeces over the next few days, and make sure he is not straining nor in any pain.
