Why is my 3-month-old puppy suddenly aggressive and biting family?

My dog 3 months old suddenly shows to much of aggression to my family and my other dogs and starts from today yesterday he is normal but today he shows aggression and trying to bite kindly help me out what's going on

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Bruno. When a puppy shows aggression, I immediately advise neutering him to remove the male hormone-driven behaviors. I would advise taking him to your veterinarian for their opinion also. He may have some medical reason for his sudden onset of aggression. Your vet can gather a history, perform an exam and then offer a diagnostic/treatment plan based on their findings. Possible tests include fecal/blood/urine tests and x-rays to look for underlying medical problems that could cause aggression. If a behavioral problem is suspected, then neutering, behavior modification, and drug therapy can be tried. I wish you good luck with Bruno

This is some pretty serious aggression. First I would have Rudy neutered. Some aggressive behaviors can be hormonally related. Then speak to his vet about a referral to a professional behavioral expert. I never recommend owners work with aggressive dogs on their own due to the safety risks. The expert will let you know if his behavior can be corrected or if he needs to be put down. Best of luck.

I am sorry you all are going through this with such a young dog. I am not sure what is available to you in India but in the united states I would recommend taking Prince to a vet to make sure he does not have any underlying health issues that might be coming out as aggression. Than I would recommend getting him in advanced aggression training. This would involve working with a dog trainer who specializes in aggression. The fear is with such a young dog if left unaddressed it could get worse. I would try and start working with him in other areas and try to keep him from sitting close to certain people that trigger his aggression. Hope this helps

This behavior is certainly concerning as you don't want Boston to cause serious harm to your wife or anyone else for that matter. I would recommend taking Boston to a behaviorist for training and other recommendations. There are trainers that will take Boston for several weeks for the training or trainers that will come to your house for in home training. At 4 months of age, this is easier to correct than when he is 4 years old. Now is the time to take action as it is much easier to train a puppy. Aggression is complicated because it can be playful aggression, dominance, possessive or anxiety. Unless you are very familiar with canine behavior, training and body language, this is a situation that requires a dog trainer. The trainer will watch Trevor’s behavior and then will teach you how to modify your behavior to change his. You should also get a few books about dog behavior and training so that you can learn how to recognize the body language as this will help. My 6-month-old dog is aggressive, biting, and peeing inside. Help!

Fear and aggression are both often due to underlying fear and/or anxiety. Working with a trainer will help you learn how to correct behaviors in a way that doesn't exacerbate anxiety or fear. It may be helpful to discuss anti-anxiety medication with your veterinarian as well. What you are describing is not normal, but working with behavior modification techniques and possibly with medication could be very helpful. My dog is suddenly aggressive and biting only at night. What's happening?

Abrupt changes in behavior like this in dogs is very concerning to me. I would be worried about some underlying neurologic disorder that could be going on. If nothing has changed at home, her routine, or the environment in general, then I would suspect an underlying medical issue. I would recommend taking her to be examined by your veterinarian and possibly having some lab work performed so they can try and determine what is going on. Your vet may recommend further work up by veterinary neurologist or may recommend a behavior modification drugs like Xanax or Prozac. I hope this helps. You should definitely have him neutered and getting professional help is a great idea. In the meantime, you could start teaching him the "look" command so you can use this command when you want him to focus on you instead of another dog.

Why is my young Labrador puppy aggressive and biting only me?

This can be very common behavior for young puppies. It is important that you initiate training with your dog now so that his aggressive tendencies do not continue into adulthood. Somethings you can do to discourage his nipping and aggressive behavior are to try and redirect his aggression by giving him a toy to play with and bite on instead of using your hands and fingers. Also, when he missed behaves firmly tell him no, put him down and walk away and ignore him for 2 to 3 minutes. After that time you can start playing with him again and if his bad behavior returns ignore him again. If you continue to do this he will quickly learn that when he misbehaves you will not pay attention to him so he should stop the bad behavior. It would also be beneficial to start training him with basic commands like sit, stay, and come. This will help establish your role as the dominant one in the relationship. Also be sure he is getting plenty of exercise by taking him on 20 to 30 minute fast-paced walks at least 2 to 3 times a day.
