Puppy skipped dinner. Safe to sleep or should I wake him to eat?

If Guido actually and reliably eats his food about an hour later, then that is ok. There is no need for your dog to eat exactly 12 hours apart. These times are just an approximation. I do not think you need to worry.

Great questions! Take a look at the bag of food that you are giving Roxy and determine how much she should be eating given her age and current body weight. Using that volume, divide it into 2 meals for the morning and 6pm "first dinner". Save whatever she doesn't finish in the morning and offer it at her 9pm "second dinner". Try not to leave out too many biscuits during the day, even if she isn't eating them currently. As she gets older, biscuit and table scrap ingestion can be some of the leading causes of obesity. Some dogs prefer not eating much in the morning - this is still normal. :-)

At his age it is not ideal because their blood sugar can get too low in the middle of the day. If it's unavoidable however, it is ok. Because of his high rate of growth, a quality diet labeled for puppies- especially large breed puppy- is the best thing for him. Congrats on your new little one and kisses to Max!

My main concern in this scenario is the stomach acid can build causes vomiting just prior to the next feeding. So in his case the vomiting would likely occur around 5-7pm. If is not happening, there is likely no harm in his current feeding schedule as long as he is not dropping weight. I worry that force feedig him will be upsetting to him. You ca try though and see how it goes. The baby food you mentioned should all be safe choices. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Norik is acting fine and this is the only meal he skipped then I would still try to offer him food in the middle of the day. You can try adding water to the food or a teaspoon of canned food. Dogs rarely will starve themselves. Don't stress and just offer more food later! If you have to go to work then put a small amount with him or offer food at his next normal feeding time. I hope this helps and good luck!

I would wake Knut and have him eat his dinner. It's important that he eats so he can get his insulin injection, do not give it to him unless he eats. Wake him, have him eat, then give him his injection.

Not necessarily, but a little bit of water should be ideally available through the night. Feed him 3-4 times daily, at good intervals (try to feed him quite late as last meal).
