My puppy has a red sore on her stomach. Is it a skin infection?

Puppies have very sensitive skin, and can be prone to infections. I'd have her seen by a vet in the morning to have this treated. Best of luck.

Hello! This looks like some sort of reaction, possibly to a bug bite? It looks a little infected, too. Could you keep an eye on this, and try to prevent Murphy from licking at it? If it is growing or getting worse, it would be best to have him checked out by his vet, to see if antibiotics might be needed. Best of luck!

Hello. In such a young dog, I am not necessarily concerned about an internal issue such as a metabolic disease or cancer, but more so a still maturing immune system. This might just be a simple issue of boosting immunity, especially gut immunity with added probiotics. Gut-associated lymphoid tissue ( GALT ) has been getting more attention lately, both in animals & people to improve overall health. Adding a probiotic like Fortiflora may be a great idea. And to reduce skin bacteria, bathing Remy in an antibacterial shampoo, one with 4% chlorhexidine once or twice a week is recommended. It goes against convention to bathe a dog this frequently, but it is sometimes needed & it definitely cuts back on the need for oral antibiotics. It may be a little skin infection. It is common and easily can happen. They can also make it worse themselves. I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian to have them evaluate it since it may require antibiotics. Without seeing it though I cannot say for sure. Poor girl. This almost looks like a superficial bite mark possibly?? and the redness is a bit concerning. Even if it isn't bothering her, I would still recommend taking Remi to your vet to get this checked out. There is a scab there so it is trying to heal but the bite looking marking should be evaluated further. You can also try cleaning it with betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water, let it dry, then place a very small amount of Neosporin on it (nothing too goopy that she can lick off) until you can get her looked at. Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This does look red and inflamed. It may be a insect bite or an infected hair follicle. I would recommend Oscar be seen by his veterinarian to have this evaluated further. He may need topical or oral antibiotics or other medications as needed. I hope this helps!

Make sure that this is not from urine getting into that part of the skin and if it is, have him evaluated by a veterinarian. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!
