My puppy is puffing air from nose. Is it a cold? Should I call vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Aussie Doodle | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 13 days old | 9 lbs

My puppy makes a noise like he is puffing out some air out of his nose. He does it almost once every 2 hours. Does it mean he has cold? Should we take him to the vet?

Hi, and thanks for your question.
This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or possibly to a rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed.
