My puppy has yellow seed-like things in her poop. Is it worms?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. These are tapeworms and they come from your pet ingesting a flea or eating another pets poop that has live tapeworms in it. It is contagious to other pets and people via ingestion of a live worm. You will need tapeworm specific dewormer such as Drontal or Praziquantel to rid this worm and a good flea preventative (Bravecto, Nexgard, Firstshield) is recommended. Usually tapeworms are gone after the first treatment as long as puppy doesn't get reinfected. I hope this is helpful! Take care now.

It's difficult to tell from the photo but I think these are tapeworm segments. Usually dogs are not routinely dewormed for tapeworms so I would get medication from you veterinarian to treat these. Your other dog can't get these from the puppy because they need to go through an intermediate host, usually a flea or rodent. Cassie should be treated with a deworming medication such as Panacar (fenbendazole) which treats roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms. This treatment is generally once daily for 3 days. Then, this same treatment should be repeated again in 3 weeks, and again in 3 months. This is done to ensure that all lifestages of the worms are treated by the medication. If there are any other pets in the household too, they need to be treated/dewormed too! I hope this is helpful!

It does look like this could be undigested rice. If you are giving her a broad-spectrum dewormer that kills tapeworms on a regular schedule, then it should be keeping her free of those. If you want to be sure that she is free of parasites or if these spots in her stool continue, I would recommend having a fecal exam done. That does look like a worm, and it appears to be a tapeworm segment. Dogs get tapeworms from fleas, so if Coochie and the puppy both have had fleas, that's how they would have gotten it. They will require praziquantel to treat it, which is a prescription drug from the vet. I recommend Drontal, it's an excellent deworming treatment that has praziquantel in it. Make an appointment for both of them to see the vet to be treated. The vet can confirm they have tapeworms, and can prescribe them Drontal. Coochie needs to be flea treated, and you will need to speak with the vet to estimate how hold the puppy is so a safe flea treatment for her can be determined. Best of luck!

Hello. Those are not worms in Chamille's poop, but she probably does have intestinal worms ( all puppies do ). You can deworm her with any over the counter wormer, just follow the directions carefully. Better yet, if you have not had her examined by your veterinarian, consider doing so.
