Yes, waiting until after the heat cycle is definitely worth considering in any female with urinary control issues. It allows for full hormonal develeopment of the pelvic area and can be beneficial in many cases. It may not help with excited/submissive urination directly but every little helps

Your little girl sounds a bit nervous. Some dogs that are a little more submissive in nature can be nervous urinators. Meaning that when someone approaches them or they get excited they may urinate. This often gets better as they get older and gain more confidence, but can take some work. Can you try to change how you approach her with the leash? You could try to get down on her level with the leash behind your back and ask her to come to you instead of you going to her. You can also try distracting her with a treat while you put on the leash. If it seems to be related to approaching her head you can try having her wear a harness that way you dont have to approach her head. These are all some general ideas but you really just have to find out what her trigger is and change your routine to what works best for her. Hopefully with confidence it will improve with time. The flip side would be if she is urinating in the house at other points in time, then this would be more concerning for a physical problem such as a UTI that would prompt evaluation by your family vet. It sounds like this could be submissive urination. It is a sign that Eclispe might be a little nervous or excited about you reaching down to pet her. Submissive urination is common in puppies and they often grow out of it as they age. When you’re petting Eclipse you should get down to her level and try to let her come to you - it’s important for you to not act too excited. This can be from a hormonal imbalance due to being spayed. If this becomes more frequent there is medication to control the urinary incontinence. They will recommend a urinalysis to make sure there is no medical problem in the urine then they can prescribe medication. Usually a low dose of medication needs to be given lifelong. If these behavior changes have taken place directly in concern with the surgical procedure, I would first want to make sure there is no post-operative medical issue taking place. It is not common to see urinary tract infections shortly after a procedure that could easily be the cause of the problems you are seeing. Although the pooping in inappropriate locations may not have anything to do with the urinary tract, Molly may be in too much discomfort to necessarily care about following the rules in general. Conversely, it is possible that the removal of hormone producing organs in the body are causing a behavior change resulting in problems you are witnessing. This would be very uncommon however, and I think that first ruling out the medical issue would be the prudent way to approach this.

This should subside over time but one thing that may help is having any friends or family that are over to the house completely ignore Pinky until she calms down. Some females will develop incontinence after the spay. This does make them more prone to urinary tract infections and I do recommend to have Amber visit her veterinarian. The doctor will check her for a bladder infection and if that is clear they will discuss starting her on a medication to tighten the sphincter. This will likely stop the incontinence.
