Why is my 6-month puppy panting, nose bubbling, and scratching?

It sounds like she may have a mild allergy or a upper respiratory infection. With her being so small I would contact your vet for an exam and possible antibiotics. They will also be able to direct you with a appropriate anti-histamine for her size. If she hasn't already, she may also need her first set of shots since she is now 8 weeks old. Your vet will be able to also guide you in a proper booster schedule. It isn't uncommon for some puppies to have an increase in breathing while sleeping or to even twitch during sleep. They dream just like us! But I would have your vet listen to her heart and lungs to ensure everything sounds normally as well! I hope this helps!

Poor Dudley! This excess panting could be due to cardiac disease, being hot, or a respiratory disease. A respiratory disease could cause the mucus bubble as well. In this case, I think a health check for Dudley would be a good idea, and I would have him seen by a vet today for this. The vet can diagnose if there is medical causing behind this panting and can discuss treatment options with you.

This may be due to allergies, infection, laryngeal paralysis or hyperthermia just to name a few causes. In an older dog, heart disease cannot be ruled out. Respiratory distress should be addressed as soon as possible by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER. If it is hot outside or inside, remove Burt to a cooler area. Use a fan and cool cloths to gradually cool him off.

Puppies do breathe a bit faster while asleep than adult dogs. An occasional sneeze or nasal drip is fine. Monitor for lethargy, decreased appetite, difficulty breathing or a yellow or green nasal discharge. See your veterinarian for an exam if any of these symptoms develop.

A dry or wet nose doesn’t tell us a lot about their health but dogs shouldn’t have green discharge from the nose. I recommend taking him to a vet for an exam. I can understand being worried about Buddy. It sounds like there are a few things going on with him. Constantly licking his paws could be due to something such as allergies, an injury, infection, parasites, anxiety, or even boredom. The heavy panting could be due to heat, pain, or a severe medical problem like heart disease. I'm not sure how old he is, but heart disease can be a common problem in older dogs, and when the heart isn't pumping properly due to heart disease, it leads to fluid build up in the lungs, consequently leading to panting. Without seeing him in person, I can't say what is going on for sure with him, but I agree it does sound worrying. I think it's best you have him seen by a vet now for a health check to be safe. It sounds like he might have an upper respiratory infection so he should be examined by a vet. He might need an antibiotic to treat. A change in weather should not cause him to gag and wheeze so I don't think that is the reason. Schedule an appointment with a vet as soon as you can.
