What to do if my puppy isn't eating, sleeping, and is aggressive?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 22 days old

My 45 days old puppy is not eating well, sleeping most of the day and acting aggressive lately. She was quiet as a lamb when i first brought her home a week ago from a pet shop. i fed her Rice and Boil Chicken and she had diarrhea after that which lead to pooping 5 times that day. Next day i fed her Royal Canin puppy dog food and her poop is regular shaped. the problem is she ate only 10 pieces of dog food a day. I dont know what to do. i dont know what to feed her. Please help my dog. Thanks U

Hello,

Gucci could have a number of things causing her symptoms, but she is ill and needs to be seen by a vet ASAP. Puppies that don't eat usually have an infection, intestinal blockage, or something else serious and the sooner she is seen the better.

I hope that helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

It sounds as Gucci is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti nausea injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
