Why is my puppy not eating, mopey, and growling? Is it teething?

I am concerned he has another health concern affecting his appetite. Is he experiencing any vomiting, diarrhea, coughing or sneezing? All of these can affect puppy's appetite. He could also be experiencing pain somewhere. In the meantime, continue to offer water to prevent him from becoming dehydrated. You can also try the canned food warmed up or mixed with warm water. The dry kibble can also be mixed with warm water. This can make the food more appealing. I hope this information helps!

Inappetence, vomiting and swelling in the neck are unusual in a dog his age; I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to see if there is an underlying issue going on that needs to be addressed beyond teething, as with any young animal, we would want to catch it early to try to prevent it from becoming worse. Decreased appetite is concerning in a puppy because of the potential very serious gastrointestinal infections such as parvovirus that they can get. Monitor him closely for progression of his already decreased appetite, nausea (which may manifest as drooling, decreased appetite and lip smacking), vomiting, severe lethargy and/or diarrhea. If any of these signs are observed, have him evaluated right away. I think that if he is otherwise doing fine, then it is ok to monitor him for now. If he has not improved by tomorrow, then have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Make sure that he is drinking water to avoid dehydration. Good luck! If his mouth is a little sore, then yes he may not eat as much. This may also come with maturity as they realize they don't have to scarf all their food because it will still be there later. Although, we cannot rule out something else is going on. If his food intake decreases more, he starts losing weight or he becomes lethargic, I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet can make sure nothing else is causing the decreased appetite and make sure he gets the proper treatment. You can offer him a little canned food if you feel like it is just a sore mouth. Honestly, if it is just that, his appetite should pick back up within 24-48 hours. I hope this helps!

It's hard to say. The mood of puppies can change very rapidly. As long as Chewie's appetite seems normal and he isn't like this all the time, I wouldn't be too concerned. But if he is constantly in this depressed state, I would recommend having a consultation with Chewie's vet.

A young puppy that does not want to eat is concerning. If he is acting sad, he may have a medical problem that needs to be addressed. I would take him to the vet for a thorough exam. Unfortunately, dogs can't tell us what's wrong the way people can! Best of luck with this.

If he is playful, active , growing and not losing weight it is unlikely he is sick but you should schedule a vet check if you are concerned. Most pups will have a reduced appetite as their growing slows down
