My 8-week-old puppy won't eat but is energetic. Should I worry?

Decreased appetite is concerning in a puppy because of the potential very serious gastrointestinal infections such as parvovirus that they can get. Monitor him closely for progression of his already decreased appetite, nausea (which may manifest as drooling, decreased appetite and lip smacking), vomiting, severe lethargy and/or diarrhea. If any of these signs are observed, have him evaluated right away. I think that if he is otherwise doing fine, then it is ok to monitor him for now. If he has not improved by tomorrow, then have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Make sure that he is drinking water to avoid dehydration. Good luck! If he doesn't want to each much tomorrow I recommend taking Boktom to a veterinarian to be evaluated. Puppies can easily get an upset stomach and have a decrease in eating but if it lasts longer than a day or he isn't eating at all I recommend a vet. It is not unusual for puppies to not eat great as they get used to eating solid food. I would recommend you try different kinds of both kibble and canned food. If there is no improvement and he continues to not eat, I would recommend you consider having him evaluated by a veterinarian for that purpose and also to possibly establish care with a veterinarian for recommendations on preventative and early life care. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Boy. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian today as I am concerned that he is ill. If he is refusing to eat and is only sleeping, this is worrisome behavior in a puppy. Depending on his exam findings, his veterinarian will direct you as far as necessary diagnostics and treatment options. In the meantime, continue to offer him water to try to prevent dehydration. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!

Seeing that your puppy is quite young, it is possible that he is dealing with some infectious disease such as Parvo or Distemper. Hello. Is she interested in any treats at all? If this is totally out of character for her, I do worry that there may be something amiss. It would not hurt to have her checked out today if possible, especially since this is a holiday weekend. Hopefully, this is nothing & she will start eating soon.
