My 3-month-old Goldendoodle puppy won't eat. What should I do?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Dudu. You can try adding some canned food or warm water to his dry kibble to make it more appealing for him. However, it is worrisome that he is not eating. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian to determine why he has experienced this abrupt change in appetite. I would try and feed him soft / canned dog food and see how he does with that. If he is still not eating and continuing to worsen, I would recommend having Maximus examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. He may be going through a phase where he is particular about the texture of the food and changing it to a more soft food may help quite a bit. I hope this helps! Hello. Is Diggs eating at least once a day? You might try feeding a soft moist or canned diet & see if he prefers this. Try to stay away from any people food because they can become fixated on this & refuse all pet food. As long as he has plenty of puppy energy, there is probably nothing seriously wrong with him. It is not unusual for puppies to not eat great as they get used to eating solid food. I would recommend you try different kinds of both kibble and canned food. If there is no improvement and he continues to not eat, I would recommend you consider having him evaluated by a veterinarian for that purpose and also to possibly establish care with a veterinarian for recommendations on preventative and early life care. This happens occasionally due to a few reasons including boredom with the same diet, loss of satisfaction from the food, oral discomfort, jaw pain, among others. Your veterinarian can perform a physical exam and then advise some diet recommendations or advise some testing to evaluate his health (fecal exam, blood tests, x-rays, etc). Unless you can find an appropriate diet they he likes I would let your vet take a look at him and go from there. Good luck with Bufford.

What a cute puppy! With him being 7 months old and a small breed dog, I think that Lucas is slowing down on his growing. This can cause a reduction in his appetite. I find that the more that we change a dog's food- the more pickier they become. I would stick with one brand, offer 1/3 of slightly less than the daily recommended amount (they sell dog food, so the more he eats the more you buy) three times daily. Give him a set amount of time and then pick up the bowl. This will create some urgency. He will eat if he is hungry. The more we change and add things, the more he will wait to eat to see what good stuff will be added. I would keep track of his body condition score- you should be able to feel his ribs with a little bit of fat cover, but not see them. As long as he is in good body condition, I would not worry. Some dogs are not food motivated and will just eat what they need. If you have any questions about his weight or body condition score, you can ask your veterinarian. I don't think that grain free food are necessary. Dogs are omnivores.
