My puppy has loose stools transitioning to adult food. What to do?

Yes, I suggest you get him a probiotic to add to the food. Use the probiotic with the chicken and rice (no puppy food) for about 4 days and then go back to trying to transition him back to the puppy food. I like this probiotic. I think it is the best. You can transition Kash back. I would transition slowly by replacing a little more of the old food with the new every day to avoid stomach upsets. If he has loose stool, have him seen by a vet for it.

He absolutely needs to be on a puppy food, unless the "adult" food you are giving your other dog is one that is "appropriate for all life stages". Any time we switch foods we can cause stomach upset. I recommend adding in small amounts of the new food to the old food, and slowly increasing the amount. If Chance has a particularly sensitive stomach, you should wean him onto the new food over a week.

There are many causes for loose stool in puppies and in some cases the bowel is just slow to develop and adapt to the demands of a rapidly growing dog!
