How to handle jealous and aggressive puppies fighting for attention?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 19 days old

Hi, I recently got 2 puppies and I have noticed that they get very jealous of each other. (Keep in mind that they are sisters) whenever I or somebody else comes to pet one of the puppies the other puppy will run towards the person and will bite, growl, and act aggressively towards the other dog that's being pet by that person, and that happened multiple times with both of them no matter how much attention we give them. I just wanted to know if you had any tips for them to stop being so jealous?

Hi! Congratulations! How cute. Sorry you have some behavioral issues going on. These can happen, especially if same sex. I would recommend getting a trainer involved and getting on top of that asap. It will only get worse. Until then, keep.them both on leashes so that you can redirect them and try to teach them exactly what you are saying no to. Ask your veterinarian for a referral to a trainer or behavioral specialist. Good luck
