What's this itchy bump on my 4-month-old puppy's chest? Is it normal?

I just want to know what type of bump is that and does it need a treatment? Is it normal for a puppy to have that? He is 4 months old and he’s always itching/ licking it? He still eats, plays and acts normally perfect. Just want to make sure if everything is okay . It is located in the bottom of his chest , in between his legs

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about Quavo's troubles. An itchy lump like that could be indicative of either a mild bacterial infection, a contact dermatitis - meaning something irritated him and he keeps licking at it and perpetuating it, or it could even be a ringworm lesion. There are a few tests that can be evaluated to find out.
The best thing to do is take Quavo to see his veterinarian. The veterinarian can assess the bump and determine if topical and/or oral medications are required.
Based on what I can see from the photo, the area where it is could be consistent with where Quavo was neutered. He may be having a suture reaction. (It doesn't say he is neutered in the description, but just in case he was and you forgot to say).
Other lumps puppies can get that are called, histiocytomas. They are benign cancerous lesions that can be very itchy and uncomfortable, but will usually regress on their own.
Again, it's best for a veterinarian to take a look and determine what course of action to take. In the meantime, you may want to pick up a cone from the pet store for Quavo to wear to keep him from licking it. That may help as well. The cone should be long enough to go past his nose by a few inches to keep him from being able to reach to lick.

I recommend to have Cash examined by the veterinarian. Skin masses can be many things but red raised masses are especially concerning for a skin cancer called a Mast Cell tumor. This mass could also be a benign Histiocytoma. Unfortunately, they look alike. Your veterinarian will need to collect a sample of cell to examine under the microscope to determine what this is and if further treatment is needed. Protect the area from itching with a dog shirt and he shoudl wear an elizabethan collar at all times if he can reach the area. If it is a Histiocytoma, sometimes inject steroid into the lesion can cause it to shrink and stop itching. Have this checked out soon.

Should I worry about a lump on my dog's chest near an old scratch?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The lump there could be from many different causes: 1. infected ball of pus under the skin from a previous wound. 2. A foreign object stuck under the skin from the wound 3. A lump there unrelated to the wound (lipoma, tumor, etc.) 4. Scar tissue and non-infected inflammation secondary to the wound. 5. Other causes. From the image the little red bit is suggestive that there might be a component of infection/inflammation ongoing, but overall it doesn't appear very angry or inflamed. Ideally I would recommend having it seen, and your vet will likely put a needle into it to see if it is a ball of infection or something else. Otherwise, if it isn't bothering Chase you can monitor it for now, and if it is getting smaller/going away don't worry, but if it is growing or hasn't started to shrink in 5-7 days I would get it checked. My dog has a white bump on her chest that's growing. Is it serious?

Since it has changed size in such a short time, I recommend getting it checked by your vet. She's very young to be developing growths or tumors but it isn't unheard of at her age. Your vet will do an exam, some lab work, probably using a needle to sample some cells from inside the lump to try to identify the kinds of cells inside and therefore what is causing the lump. Based on these results, your vet will be better able to tell you what is going on and how best to proceed from there, if it is benign or needs further investigation.

Found bumps on my puppy's chest and legs. Should I see a vet?

It is always best to have a vet check out any new lumps/bumps on your dog. I don't think it is an emergency but I would have him examined in the next day or so. My dog has a small bump on his chest/neck. Is it an allergic reaction?

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! A singular small skin colored bump does not sound like evidence of an allergic reaction. Typically signs of an allergic reaction are hives under the skin, vomiting, diarrhea, and itching/scratching. With all else being normal, it is probably unlikely this bump is due to an allergy. It may be a small mass. If you are concerned, you can have this bump evaluated by a veterinarian. They may take a small sample of it in order to determine what it is and if it needs to be removed or not. Usually masses that are fast growing, bleed, itch, or have discharge coming from them are concerning and should be evaluated sooner rather than later. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!

What's this red bump on my dog's skin that he won't stop licking?

From your pictures, a possible cause might be a lick granuloma. These start for some reason (sometimes a bug bite, a small scratch, or a small skin mass) and the dog licks at them and makes it worse. They lick at it and push surface bacteria deeper which makes it itch, so they lick. It becomes almost a habit like a human biting their fingernails. So- I would recommend a visit to the veterinarian. They can check to make sure that is what it is , make sure that the inciting cause is gone, and do some diagnostics to determine a treatment plan. Has there been any changes to Neo's environment? Sometimes stress can start a lick granuloma or prolong it. Your veterinarian will most likely start antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. They might also recommend increasing his activity in case boredom is a cause. If there is a small skin mass present- they will recommend diagnostics on that. Good luck! My puppy has whitish black bumps on his arm. Should I worry?

Thanks for the image. That could be an area of trauma or irritation. It may also be some localized infection (bacterial or fungal) or maybe a papillomatous growth (wart). If he is licking or chewing at the area, place an e-collar (cone) on him and schedule an exam with your veterinarian. If the spot is not bothering him and he is behaving normally otherwise, you can choose to monitor it at home for rapid change or growth, bleeding, discharge or discomfort. Should any of these symptoms develop, an exam with your veterinarian would be required to definitively diagnose the underlying cause. Any treatment will depend on the diagnosis.
