Why is my 6-month GSD puppy panting heavily for no apparent reason?

If you have noticed a change in her breathing pattern and she appears to have labored breathing, I would recommend getting her in to be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Any breathing problems should be treated as an emergency. Panting often indicates pain or anxiety, so she may have some general pain, or abdominal pain if she has eaten something that disagreed with her or swallowed something non-food, like a toy that is causing an obstruction. Left untreated, an obstruction can be life-threatening. I recommend getting her seen by your vet right away. They will do an exam, labwork and/or x-rays as indicated, and, based on these results your vet will be better able to tell you what is going on and how best to treat it.

It sounds like there are a few things going on with Mavis. If she can't put pressure on her front right paw, that means she is in pain. Pain would also cause her to have trouble getting comfortable, and can lead to the panting. The sneezing and coughing could be due to a respiratory infection. Please take her into the vet in the morning for these issues.

He really should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He could have an issue with his heart and your vet can take an x-ray of his chest, run an EKG, and/or an ultrasound of his heart to diagnose and then determine if treatment is needed. it is difficult to know the cause without having an examination by a vet.

If your calculated heart rate is indeed this low, either Nor is extremely athletic or has an abnormally low heart rate. This could contribute to the panting if he has a heart condition. I would recommend having Nor examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. A lot can be determined just from a physical examination. This may be absolutely nothing to worry about but with a heart rate this low, I would have a veterinarian assess him further. Normal temperature in dogs can be up to 102.5 degrees so I don't think he has a fever, but the heavy panting and increase in water intake can indicate he is in pain or has an issue such as metabolic disease causing distress and symptoms. It would be best to bring him to your vet, especially if he also has sores or skin issues in addition to these symptoms. Your vet will likely want to do some tests such as bloodwork to help determine the cause of all his symptoms and get him on the right treatment plan.

Hello. If Bella's breathing appears normal when she sleeps, then this is not too concerning, but it would not hurt to have her evaluated just to be sure. She is too young for most chronic conditions, but if she is not on any heartworm preventative, this would be a good thing to check on.
