My 5-week-old puppy has green pimples on belly. Is it serious?

Most likely this is a mild skin infection (bacterial) and the green bump could be a small pustule. Puppies commonly get little skin infections on the belly area. You can try cleansing it with a mild soap (i.e. Dove) and warm water, letting it dry, and applying Neosporin to it twice a day. Sometimes the pets immune system and conservative treatment like this is enough to get it to resolve. However if it starts to get worse or starts to spread then it is best to get puppy seen by your vet for further investigation of the area and perhaps oral antibiotics or stronger topical antibiotic sprays to use on the area to get it heal.

I would monitor the area and if the pimple does not go away or more lesions pop up it would be a good idea to have Frankie checked out by your veterinarian.

I suspect that these are little bumps are due to a bacterial infection (pyoderma). Puppies commonly get this on their bellies and they usually go away with good cleaning. I recommend cleaning the belly with a medicated wipe or shampoo (can get this at the pet store) once a day until the bump(s) are gone. If it seems to get worse, then you'll want to take Mia into the vet for an exam. Skin lesions like these can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. Sometimes puppies like Palmer can get a type of “puppy acne” along the belly as well. If the lesions do not start to go away in the next week, or if they start getting worse, I recommend making an appointment to have Palmer seen by your veterinarian to help determine the cause of the bumps you’ve noticed and to make sure they are treated appropriately. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment.

Congratulations on your sweet new puppy! Immature oil glands can cause little pimple-like lesions. These “pimples” can also be due to a small skin infection (pyoderma). Thank you for providing a picture of Comet's bumps, they are helpful. Also, good on you for not grabbing the centers of the bump with tweezers! It could be that she has puppy pyoderma. This is a common skin condition in puppies (a skin infection), they have very sensitive skin. She will need to see a vet to have this definitively diagnosed and if she does have puppy pyoderma, the vet will prescribe antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!
