When do puppies need their first shots and how much do they cost?

Puppies should actually start deworming treatments from two weeks of age, so I would recommend giving them those treatments now. Yes you can deworm them yourself, Panacur is an excellent dewormer that is safe to give them at two weeks of age. Follow the dosing instructions on the bottle. You can get it at a pet store. As for the cost of deworming them, it's $21 for a roundworm and hookworm dewormer per animal, but some places may give a discount for multiple animals. You'd have to speak to the vet at your local VetCo to see if that's possible. At six to eight weeks of age, I'd definitely recommend having them seen by a vet for their first vaccines, and I've put a link below to VetCo's vaccine prices so you know them ahead of time. Hi. Great questions. Puppies should begin vaccines at 8 weeks old. Then they need vaccines every 3-4 weeks until the puppy is 16-18 weeks. It is then once a year after that. They do need a physical exam with every shot, they need a fecal rest in the first visit, and to start heartworm prevention. I would not be surprised that it does get close to 100 dollars a visit during these boosters. The positive thing is its only once a year after that :) I don't think you are being taken advantage of. I would recommend deworming all the puppies. I would not start vaccinating them for another 2 weeks if they are only 1 1/2 months old. They need their DAPP vaccinations every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age. They need rabies vaccinations at 16 weeks of age. Depending on your location if youhave Lepto in the area then I would start the Leptospirosis vaccination at 12 weeks of age. Hi there! Since Mocha is six weeks old, he should go ahead and start his vaccinations now. He will need a DAPP vaccine (for distemper, adenovirus, parvo, and parainfluenza) now - this vaccine will also need to be boostered every 3 weeks until he is 16 weeks or older. He will also need a rabies vaccine anytime after 12 weeks of age. Depending on his lifestyle and what diseases are prevalent in your area, he may also need to be vaccinated against Bordetelle (kennel cough), leptospirosis, and/or Lyme disease. Your veterinarian can discuss the risks of these illnesses in your area and help you make this decision. And yes, he should also be dewormed. You can use a broad-spectrum dewormer like Strongid or Panacur from the pet store, or get a prescription dewormer from your vet's office if you prefer.
