My 6-month puppy has diarrhea and vomiting. When should I see a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 9 days old | 35 lbs

My 6 month old puppy has explosive diarrhea and has thrown up 3 times. He's a little shakey but other then that he's acting normal. He has no fever and he's Drinking water. I already have a vet apt scheduled for Thursday. Does he need to go in sooner? I'm really worried!

With hold food for six to twelve hours to have his intestinal tract calm down. If he becomes lethargic or the diarrhea becomes bloody or with a lot of mucus then take him in right away. Give small amounts of water every hour, if he drinks too much at one time that may make the vomiting continue. Keep him quiet and let him rest also. Hi there and thanks for your post!

Vomiting can have many causes in puppies- parasitic or viral infections, obstructions, or dietary indiscretion or eating something out of the ordinary among other causes. I would recommend restrict feeding Max for the next 8 hours or so (he can have water). If he continues to vomit or vomits again after his fast, then I would have him seen by a veterinarian.

I would monitor her for lethargy, decreased appetite, diarrhea, abdominal pain (pain if you press on belly, trouble getting comfortable, going down into prayer position with front legs down and bottom up in air), or continued vomiting, or blood in vomit or stool. If these signs occur, she should see her vet!

I'm sorry Julio is so sick! He could be suffering from a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or could have pancreatitis. When a dog has been vomiting for longer than 24 hours, it's time to see a vet. I would have him seen by a vet right away to diagnose what is causing his vomiting so he can be treated. Hello. If you are concerned about parvo, blood may not appear in the diarrhea for another day or so. If he continues to have vomiting & diarrhea, Justice will become dehydrated & this will make him very, very weak. It's not good that Steve has been vomiting and having loose stool. It's fine to take away his food for a bit, but make sure he always has access to water. Give his food back to him in the morning, but if he vomits that, vomits water, refuses to eat, or becomes very lethargic, I would take him into a vet right away. Best of luck.

Given Boomer's older age and the acute onset of the vomiting/diarrhea, I would have him seen sooner rather than later by a veterinarian. Boomer could just have an upset stomach, but he also could have a foreign body, an infection or even a tumor causing these signs. Your vet will perform a full physical exam and determine if any additional diagnostic testing is needed (bloodwork, xrays ) and what treatments he made need. Good luck!

My puppy has no shots, is vomiting and has diarrhea. What to do?

Puppies commonly get gastrointestinal infections from parasites and bacteria that can cause this to happen. We always worry about Parvo virus in puppies, but it causes bloody stool, so hopefully this won't be the case for Stella. If he is still active and eating/drinking, then this is likely not an emergency, but he should be seen by a vet within the next 24 hours. My dog vomited and has small poops. When should I see a vet about it?

I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
