My puppy coughs a lot and pukes. Should I take her to the vet?

Poor Mila Mumu! The most common cause of coughing in a puppy this age would be a respiratory infection such as kennel cough - if this is the problem, it should be easily treatable with antibiotics. The good news is, it's really not possible for her to have heartworm disease at her age - this illness takes a very long time to develop after being infected, so we don't typically see symptoms of it in dogs less than 2-3 years old at minimum. It's good that you're planning to take your pup in to the vet today for an exam. He/she will listen to her heart and lungs, and may recommend chest x-rays or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem. If she does have kennel cough (or something similar), your vet will probably send her home with antibiotics to treat the infection.

She is very beautiful! Without seeing her it is hard to say. Coughing is a sign of kennel cough but the sneezing isn't. While the kennel cough vaccine is a great vaccine, it is like the flu vaccine and doesn't prevent the disease just lessens the severity. I wouldn't worry if it was just one-time, however I would monitor the puppies for any additional coughs or signs of respiratory issues (heavy breathing, vomiting, not wanting to eat or drink, turning pale/blue, etc) If the coughing happens again, or you are seeing other signs of illness, a vet visit right away is best.

Citirizine is an antihistamine that can be helpful if a dog has some allergies or even mild airway irritation. If Shero is coughing so much that he is bringing up phlegm and mucus I would start to worry about a respiratory infection that may need treatment with antibiotics. In these little tiny puppies I tend to treat more aggressively since their immune systems are not fully mature and they can't always fight off infections or other illnesses. I also worry that little sick dogs and cats can become hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) if they are not able to keep down their food. This can happen if a puppy is coughing and regurgitates his stomach contents a few too many times. I would get Shero back to a veterinarian since his signs are worsening. I'm not quite sure I can picture what you mean by walking like a soldier, but if Princesa is limping, again, it would be a good idea to have her examined by your vet.

I am concerned that she is having such trouble breathing. This could be another pneumonia, an upper respiratory infection, a fungal infection, a congenital heart problem and much more. If your vet has already done X-rays and they were normal, you may want to talk to them about having an ultrasound of the heart done. Also, I would have her blood work checked to see how her liver and kidney values are and see what her white blood count looks like.
