Based on the photo, I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at this to rule out the various possible causes. This could be a bacterial infection, fungal infection such as ringworm, etc. The veterinarian will be able to perform some additional testing and have a better look at it so that the most appropriate treatment can be recommended. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor baby! It could be a burn from heating pad or lamp. Or it could be a hot spot from excessive moisture from the mother licking the puppy or lying in urine. Hot spots can crop up quite quickly. Since the puppy is so young it should ideally be seen by a Vet. the fur should be shaved to evaluate the area. If it is a hot spots can heal very quickly. Hello. It is very difficult to see, but it LOOKS like the mother dog may have gotten a little rough with this puppy & caused a skin injury. I would pick up some antibacterial wash like Hibiclens ( available at all pharmacies ) & gently clean the area twice daily. Rinse & dry the area thoroughly. I would not put anything else on the puppy as Mom will just lick it off. As long as the pup seems to be eating well, then I would see how this goes for a few days. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Thanks for the pictures, based on them and your description I am thinking that he has a hot spot, which is a superficial skin infection. It can start off small but grows rapidly. The skin in moist and red and sometimes has a yellow green discharge. Ideally HeiPi should be seen by a vet to have the fur shaved away and prescribed steroids, antibiotics and likely a topical medication. You can use an E-collar to prevent chewing and licking and clean the area twice daily. Dry it well then apply a triple antibiotic ointment twice daily until you can see the Vet. Other causes could be ring worm, demodex (non-contagious mite) a bacterial or yeast infection. Also there could be other common causes in Malaysia that we do not see in the US. I hope this helps!
