Why is my dog losing fur in a growing patch after playing outside?

My dog play outside after that he fur was fall at that area. The hole was become more bigger day by day. This was the first time he fur fall like this. Why be like that? What should I do?

Thanks for the pictures, based on them and your description I am thinking that he has a hot spot, which is a superficial skin infection. It can start off small but grows rapidly. The skin in moist and red and sometimes has a yellow green discharge. Ideally HeiPi should be seen by a vet to have the fur shaved away and prescribed steroids, antibiotics and likely a topical medication. You can use an E-collar to prevent chewing and licking and clean the area twice daily. Dry it well then apply a triple antibiotic ointment twice daily until you can see the Vet.

Other causes could be ring worm, demodex (non-contagious mite) a bacterial or yeast infection. Also there could be other common causes in Malaysia that we do not see in the US.

That looks more like a really inflamed “hot spot” to me. Put an ecollar on him so he can’t lick at it, and take him to your vet. He may need oral antibiotics and a prescription topical treatment. My dog has a patch of missing fur near his mouth. What's the cause?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Thanks for the picture. The most common cause is probably demodex, a non contagious mite. In young animals they can over grow and cause localized patches of hair loss. Other causes are: ring worm, abrasion or skin infection. If it gets worse or doesn't improve I recommend taking Echo to the vet. Demodex is diagnosed by a skin scrape. Hope this helps! Good luck!

My 5-month-old puppy has a circular skin patch peeling and oozing.

Unfortunately as much as we try the warning devices can cause a burn that doesn’t show up for several days. Or could he burned himself on something? Another possibility is a hot spot. Why is my dog's bald spot growing and skin discolored and dry?

If it has been getting bigger over the last few weeks, you should really take Milo to your local vets to get the bald patch examined and start treatment. Most likely, the treatment will be in form of antibacterial/antifungal cream or ointment.

My dog licked wound, now has bald spot, dry skin. Is it a hotspot?

Hello, and thanks for your question about Maki. This could have been a hot spot, but it could also be something else, such as an abscess (deeper infection), skin mites, etc. I'm a bit unclear as to if that first picture was an earlier picture, and the second one is how the area looks now? The two photos are very different - the area looks much smaller and more moist in the first photo. However, I'm concerned about the size of that bald patch in the second picture, and the fact that the fur still looks wet - which would indicate to me that the underlying issue is not yet cured. I recommend having Maki seen by a vet, where they can better look at those lesions, and start him on oral antibiotics if that's indicated. Hope this helps!
