My puppy is sick, won't eat or drink, and has blood in her stool.

Poor Luna! She could have an infection (parvo, etc) or a parasite. Since she has bloody stool and is lethargic, she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. Your vet can test a stool sample to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to treat the problem. She might also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. Hope she gets better soon!

You should get her to a vet asap her age and history of no shots could attribute the the blood to parvovirus. Hopefully it is a minor gastroenteritis but the chance of parvovirus is very real. Parvovirus needs to be diagnosed quickly and tratment instigated rapidly.

Hello. If you are concerned about parvo, blood may not appear in the diarrhea for another day or so. If he continues to have vomiting & diarrhea, Justice will become dehydrated & this will make him very, very weak. It sounds as Sugar is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

She might have a condition called "Parvovirus" which is a very serious virus that affects puppies, and is more likely if Joplin is unvaccinated. The other possible causes in a puppy include an obstruction in her gut (a blockage from a foreign object (ex. ball) that she ate, or an intussusception (the intestines telescoping in on each other). Also, depending on her age, pyometra is possible along with many other conditions. With what you are describing, I am very concerned that she could die without aggressive care. I strongly recommend you get Joplin to a vet right away, and if your vet is closed go to your closest emergency clinic. They will recommend a test of her poop, as well as possible bloodwork and x-rays, and will likely want to keep her in hospital on IV fluids and medications. Puppies commonly get gastrointestinal infections from parasites and bacteria that can cause this to happen. We always worry about Parvo virus in puppies, but it causes bloody stool, so hopefully this won't be the case for Stella. If he is still active and eating/drinking, then this is likely not an emergency, but he should be seen by a vet within the next 24 hours. Hi there! Let me see if I can help with Bini. I'm sorry she is feeling so sickly. I have to be honest, she does sound like she is quite ill. I would be concerned that she is not eating, and also unable to keep water down. The loose stools are worrisome as well. When we see vomiting and diarrhea together, we worry that our dog has eaten something, and it may be causing a blockage somewhere. The other concern, of course, is an infection of some kind - whether is be a systemic infection, or from parasites in her gastrointestinal tract. Another concern is that Bini is not spayed, according to her description above. In some cases, female dogs that are in tact, can get an infection in their uterus, that can make them very sick too. If she has been in heat somewhat recently, I would put that on my list too. Regardless of the cause, Bini should be examined by a veterinarian, so that they made evaluate some Xrays of her gastrointestinal system, and first make sure there is not a blockage of any kind. Once that is ruled out, the focus will be on evaluating some blood work, to make sure that there aren't any infections or issues with any of th electrolytes or organs. The blood work will also help to see how dehydrated she is from all of the fluid loss. Bini will also probably be hospitalized and treated for her dehydration, and with some intravenous antibiotics and other medications to soothe the stomach, since she cannot keep anything down. Depending on what the veterinarian finds, they will make a treatment plan that is streamlined to suit Bini's needs. I hope you have Bini examined as soon as possible! Best of luck!
