My puppy has a blood blister after a vet's needle. Is it normal?

This could be a hematoma (when blood vessels burst and cause a blood-filled blister.) from being poked three times for blood. Typically these are not something to worry about and resolve on their own. Do not try to squeeze, and keep an eye on it. If it gets bigger or doesn't appear to be resolving over the next week, I'd take Oxley into the vet. I hope this helps!

This could be a sign of puppy pyoderma, trauma (is she licking the area a lot?), insect bites, or signs of a viral infection/fever, rodenticide ingestion, a congenital or acquired disorder affecting the platelet's ability to adhere to damaged blood vessels. If these blood "blisters" keep enlarging or do not go away within a few days, you will need to consult your veterinarian. The vet will perform a thorough physical examination. Lab tests will be necessary such as a complete blood count, biochemistry profile, and urinalysis and possibly a coagulation panel. There is no specific treatment for those blood filled skin lesions, however it is important to find the underlying cause, which then can be addressed. So, I suggest you monitor the skin and if the lesions enlarge, or if they do not go away within a few days or spread, you take your puppy to your veterinarian. If your puppy gets pale gums it is an emergency and your pup needs to be seen at an ER right away.

It is hard to say without examining Neala which the lesion is, but it could be a bacterial infection, fungal infection, or a small mass. I would recommend Neala gets checked out by her vet soon to have this looked at. Your vet may need to take a sample of the lesion to determine what it is and if it is something that needs to be removed or not. Hi, sometimes dogs can get blood blisters usually on their underside. If it's not bothering her, leave it alone. Iy may go away on its own or stay there. If you think she's bothered by it, she should see a vet about getting it removed. But it doesn't mean anything bad is going on. Good luck, I hope this helps!

The picture you posted does not look like a pimple, so I am worried that it is actually a mass. Anytime a new mass is noticed, I always recommend having it evaluated to see what it is and if anything needs to be done about it. Unfortunately, we often can't tell anything about a mass by just looking at it. Your vet can perform a simple test called a fine needle aspirate where they use a small needle to collect some cells from the mass, then look at them under the microscope. They may even need to send the cells to the lab for a pathologist to examine them, so we know what the mass is. If it is benign, you might not need to do anything about the mass at all, but if they see cells that worry them, they might recommend removing the mass. If the area is infected, then your veterinarian may prescribe oral or injectible antibiotics to resolve it. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Without further testing, there is no way to tell if this growth is due to infection, trauma or allergy, or if it is a tumour. Tumours can be of a malignant (cancerous) type that can spread elsewhere and/ or invade the healthy tissue around them, or a more benign (noncancerous) type that is unlikely to spread. I recommend making an appointment to see your vet to have the growth tested. In many cases this can be done using a fine needle aspirate, where cells are removed from the growth using a needle and examined under a microscope to determine what it is and to guide treatment. In some cases further testing may be needed to determine the necessary course of treatment, but it is important to get new growths tested in a timely manner, as some can be cancerous and quite aggressive in their growth, and growths due to infection, allergy or trauma can lead to complications or be indicators of underlying health problems. In the meantime, it is very important that you keep Trey from licking the area to help prevent infection by making sure he wears the “cone” (also known as an e-collar or Elizabethan collar) at all times when he is not being directly supervised by you, including while sleeping. Pain medications meant for humans can be very dangerous (and even deadly) for dogs, so I do not recommend giving any to your pup without consulting with your vet. I agree, that is concerning that this hard lump is now bleeding, and this lump could be something serious. It could be a hemangiosarcoma (malignant) or hermangioma (benign), which are tumors that develop from blood vessels and look like a blood blister. Given his age, there is a chance it could be another type of malignant tumor, like a mast cell tumor, but it could also be benign. Unfortunately without seeing him in person, I cannot say for certain. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed.
