This is indeed common in puppies (and some adult dogs). When Julius gets riled up or too excited, stop all play until he calms down. If he bites, a stern "No" or "No bite" should get him to stop. Praise and reward him when he complies. Be firm and be consistent.

This is common behavior in puppies. Make sure you aren’t playing with your hands. I would only play with dog toys. If he growls just say no and you can even spray him with a water spray bottle then walk away. Don’t show him more attention. I would also try to contact a trainer as now is the time to start training this behavior out of him. Your trainer will be able to help you with submissive training and also be able to watch him and decide whether or not his behavior is play or aggression. I hope this helps.
