My puppy has a belly rash and brown spots. Are they normal? Advice?

My puppy has a little rash on her belly near her vagina. What are some natural things I can do to get rid of it? Also she had brown spots. Are they normal?!

I’m not sure if the lighting makes the skin look normal in your picture, or if the rash you are describing is faint enough to not show up on the picture, but her skin appears fairly normal to me. The brown spots I see are normal pigmentation variants.
Often times mild skin problems in young dogs are bacterial and bathing in a shampoo that has chlorhexidine or salicylic acid can be helpful. These can be found in the human shampoo aisle in the dandruff area. If it does not seem to help then I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian soon. Poor Hanuli! Sometimes their skin on their belly will become darker as they age but with the redness it could indication an allergy or an infection. You can try giving 100mg Benadryl (4 adult tablets) twice a day to see if that helps. If it isn’t improving or worsens then I would have your vet look at it. Your vet will be able to prescribe stronger allergy meds or even antibiotics if needed. I hope this helps!

This sounds like and looks like allergies with a possible secondary infection. It appears she needs antibiotics and maybe some.stronger allergy medications and maybe a prescription food trial. I would recommend getting her checked again with your veterinarian or for a second opinion. Good luck

Without images or a physical exam, it can be difficult to determine definitively what is on your pup's skin. If these areas are flat, smooth to the touch and not bothering him, then it is probably just his skin coloration. My dog's belly is dark red. Is it a rash or something serious?

Based on the picture I am Concerned that this may actually be bruising (however pictures do have their limitations). If this is bruising and there is no known trauma then I would be very concerned about a bleeding disorder or exposure to rodenticide which can be life threatening. If this is a rash then she is probably pretty uncomfortable and she would likely benefit from medication to decrease his itchiness. Why does my puppy have pink spots with dark centers and a scab on her belly?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Sasha. I suspect she has a mild superficial skin infection starting on her belly. I would start by bathing her twice per week with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula. This may take care of it as it appears mild. If the lesions spread or do not resolve, she will need to see her veterinarian. Skin infections can be due to an allergy, irritation or parasites. I hope this information helps!

My puppy has brown/black spots on belly & nipples. Is it serious?

Hello, thank you for your question about Bella. Brown/black spots on a puppy's belly could be a sign of a few different conditions. It is possible that this is a bacterial skin infection called impetigo/puppy pyoderma that is relatively common in puppies. Another possible problem is that Bella may actually have some blackheads/irritated skin on her belly. With either of these conditions if the spots are mild and Bella is not bothered by them you could try gently cleaning them with a gentle cleanser decided for us in dogs. If Bella is scratching/rubbing at the spots or there is a colored/odorous discharge I would recommend having Bella seen by your veterinarian so that they can further examine the spots and determine the need for another treatments.
