My puppy ate avocado and is breathing heavily. What should I do now?

Avocado itself isn't toxic, but does have a high fat content that may cause GI upset. It may be a good idea to replace Kylie's regular diet for a few meals with some boiled rice and chicken to help settle her stomach, especially if she has any minor vomiting or diarrhea after eating the "snack". Some dogs can have severe reactions from eating too much fat, such as pancreatitis. Signs of something more severe that warrant a trip to the vet ASAP include blood in the vomit or diarrhea, painful abdomen, bloated abdomen, attempting to vomit or defecate without results, or general distress/lethargy/loss of appetite. If you do see these signs, scheduling a vet visit ASAP is best.

If there are no other signs and you are not suspecting any intoxication you could monitor him at this stage for the next 2 hours and see if he settles down. If not a check up would be ideal to understand the underlying cause and treat appropriately. Unfortunately at this stage the presentation is quite generic and differentials are many.

I am concerned that she is having such trouble breathing. This could be another pneumonia, an upper respiratory infection, a fungal infection, a congenital heart problem and much more. Also, I would have her blood work checked to see how her liver and kidney values are and see what her white blood count looks like.
