My dog is 51 days pregnant, leaking urine, no milk. Is this normal?

A normal healthy dog is pregnant for about 63 days before going into labor. If you know when she was bred you can count the days to see how far along she is. It can be normal to not be able to palpate the pups in her abdomen, especially if she is a big dog. It can also be normal for the mammary glands to leak a small amount of milk prior to the pups being born.

If she became pregnant on June 18, then Brownie is 57 days along. It is possible that she is starting to create milk. Dogs do not always "look" pregnant, especially if she is having a small litter. She is far enough along to have your vet do an x-ray to check for puppies. I recommend this also so that you will know how many puppies to expect while she is labor. It is possible that she is not pregnant and is exhibiting signs associated with false pregnancy. Most dogs will clear a false pregnancy on their own without treatment. It could be normal discharge. I would not be concerned about it if she is still acting normal and eating and drinking ok. We only get alarmed if we see green or black discharge (which could indicate placental rupture). Not all dogs get a big belly when pregnant, just like how human women are get pregnant differently. It could be Princesses is pregnant and the discharge is milk, but there could also be an infection causing it. I would have her seen by a vet for this problem. Hello. It sounds like she is close. Typically milk leakage is seen in the final few days, but it can begin as long as 7-10 days prior. It would possibly help if you had an exact breeding date in order to count days of gestation. Typically, dogs are pregnant for 63 days, but some can go as long as 65 days.
