My pregnant dog has kennel cough. How long until it clears? Puppy risks?

That would depend on the underlying cause of it. If it is due to an upper respiratory tract infection/inflammation antibiotics may be given without problems/side effects for the pups. Kennel cough is usually a self limiting infection and in 1 to 2 weeks time will completely disappear without any treatment. However sometime an anti inflammatory medication and an antibiotic treatment is indicated (and probably this was your case). Your puppy should gradually improve but if you do not see an improvement in the next 24-36 hrs I recommend a recheck at your veterinarian, earlier if she is getting worse. In the meantime I suggest to use a harness instead of a collar to walk her outside to avoid pushing on the inflamed trachea and make her cough even more. Dogs are typically "contagious" for the first week or so of illness. To be safe, isolate Luna from other dogs for about two weeks. The cough may linger for longer but is not an indication of active infection.

You will not be able to get kennel cough from your dog. Depending on what pathogen has caused the cough it may or may not be able to be spread on your clothing to other dogs. If you simply practice good hygiene, washing hands, etc., your dog's at home should be safe.

You can clean/disinfect hher toys, bedding , etc., however it will likely not make much of a difference as most of the germs that cause kennel cough are ubiquitous, ie everywhere. Kennel cough is self-limiting, so will likely subside within the next two to three weeks. She will be fine, even if you do not disinfect everything.

Kennel cough is transmitted similarly to the common cold- so with direct contact or by sharing bowls or even by germs transferred from your hands after petting the coughing puppy. So keeping them separately is ideal if feasible, and washing your hands between handling each of them is also advised. Since kennel cough is transmitted by aerosol and direct contact you wound have to keep their kennels very separate (like in different rooms). I am not sure if your frenchie is already being treated , but Kennel cough is often viral and self limiting. But sometimes a cough suppressant or antibiotic is indicated depending on signs. I would watch him closely and have him evaluated (if you haven’t already) if he becomes lethargic, if his appetite decreases, if his respiratory rate is increased or if there is thick nasal discharge.
