Why is my 60-day pregnant dog's belly so small? Is it normal?

My dog is 60 days pregnant but she has a small belly which concerns me if whether something is wrong.

She may not be pregnant, the date may be incorrect or she may not have a large litter. Ideally, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian. Pregnancy can be confirmed via palpation, blood test or abdominal x-ray or ultrasound. The imaging may diagnose any other underlying condition as well.

From your pictures I do see some belly enlargement but it is hard to say since I don't know what she looked like before she was bred. Also I do see some mammary gland development. All of which is a good sign!

At 33 days your options to confirm pregnancy are to have Aubree ultrasounded. Or you can wait until she is 50 days and have an X-ray done. By that time the puppies can be seen on X-ray.

Unfortunately without seeing Aubree in person, there is no way I can say if she is pregnant or not. Each dog shows a pregnancy differently, and some may have bigger bellies than others, so I can't say if her belly is too little or not. I would have her seen by a vet for x-rays when she is at least 45 days of gestation. This will confirm if she is pregnant or not, and will also tell you how many puppies she is carrying. My Shih Tzu is 62 days pregnant. Is a hard tummy normal or concerning?

62 days is around the time of whelping for a dog, so if she is showing signs of early labor it could be related, however if the discharge is an odd color, she seems very ill or in distress, doesn't go into labor, or becomes very weak or lethargic, I would be concerned there is something else ongoing which should be seen by a vet in person ASAP.

When and how to tell if my dog is pregnant with no symptoms?

Based on those dates, Tara would be about 6 weeks pregnant at this point in time. A dog's gestation length is 58-68 days, with an average of 63 days. Typically you wouldn't see some milk at this stage of gestation, it's still a little early. You would see milk closer to her giving birth, or sometimes not at all. The only way to know for sure if she is pregnant is to have her seen by a your vet. The vet can do x-rays to confirm she is pregnant and can tell you how many puppies she is having. I would have her seen by a vet tomorrow to get x-rays done. I hope this helps!

She appears pregnant from the photos but there is no way for me to diagnose pregnancy via the internet. Dogs are pregnant for 62-65 days so if it’s been that long without her delivering I suggest you get her to a vet for an exam. I doubt this is false pregnancy.
