Why can't my 6-month-old Pomeranian puppy balance or use his back legs?

By his posture I am very worried about his back. I Am concerned that his spinal cord may be damaged. It also could be an infectious cause such as rabies or a parasite called neospora. Or even meningitis. He needs to be examined by a veterinarian to decide what the best course of treatment is and to make sure that you and your family are not at risk. Hello, I'm concerned that Hercules may have injured his back or spine somehow, which could lead to him not using his back legs well. I would recommend having him seen by a vet right away so his neurologic function to his legs can be assessed. They will likely recommend x-rays to initially image his spine, and may recommend CT or MRI imaging if they are suspicious of a herniated disc. Rest, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, and good pain management medications are important mainstays for healing any type of back injury. From what you describe it sounds like there is definitely something wrong with Theo's musculoskeletal or nervous system. I would go back to the vet and have them examine him again, you could video how he crawls around the floor to show them. It would be good to have his legs and spine xrayed in case there is a fracture somewhere. Because he is a young dog there is the possibility that he has a condition from birth. If it was simply pain or even a minor injury I would expect the pain medications to have helped by now.

What you're describing could be hip disease, spinal cord issues or even an infection. If it doesn't get better over the next few days he needs to get checked out by your veterinarian, sooner if if gets worse or he seems painful.

I would suggest taking Aurora's pup for a vet exam. It could be a congesnital disorder or the pup may have been injuries inadvertently if Aurora sat on her or moved her. The earlier treatment instituted in some of these cases the better the chance the pup will have normal function.

At his age I would worry there is a injury affected his back or hips that is causing him to be weak and unsteady. If he is overactive and jumps frequently, he may have damaged part of his spine to cause swelling and compression on the nerves. The best thing to do in confine him so he does not continue to injury himself until you can get him to the vet for an evaluation and radiographs

I would be very concerned about neurologic disease. A possible fracture that is healing and pressing on the Spinal cord or traumatic disc compression. With neurologic disease it can vary clinical signs and severity. I would recommend strict cage rest at least 4 months. With him being active he could be injurying himself worse.
