The cost depends on the area you live in and if a board certified specialist is performing the procedure. I would say anywhere in the range of $2500 to $3500 as a rough estimate for one elbow. Again, this range can vary quite a bit depending on where you are and who is performing the procedure.

I am so sorry to hear about your puppy! Unfortunately it appears she has a tibial crest avulsion, and the treatment of choice is surgery if you want to have Bailey have the ability to use her leg normally. Unfortunately orthopedic surgeries do cost a great deal of money to perform and so vets have to charge accordingly. You can always see if there is a veterinary school in your area that may offer the surgery at a lower cost, but that isn't always a gaurantee.

So, he does need surgery in order to maximize his ability to use that leg. With that said, there are certainly plenty of dogs (and humans!) out there who do not have their torn ACL surgically repaired, and instead manage the injury with pain meds, anti-inflammatories, and rest as needed for life. But, without surgery that stifle ("knee") will remain unstable. Additionally, dogs who tear one ACL are at increased risk of tearing the other, which in my opinion adds another reason to pursue surgery, so if that happens Jaeger wouldn't have *2* unstable stifles. Hello, sorry to hear about your cat. The ACL or CCL (interchangeable) is a ligament in the knee that prevents the lower leg from sliding forward. Unlike humans, there isn't a direct replacement of this ligament in dogs or cats. There are several surgeries to address a torn ACL however, and it involves putting an implant (a plate or a high load resistant suture). If using a plate, one must surgically cut through the bone and change the angle of the knee, where as a lateral suture is less invasive than this. The success rate is high and complications are low with either surgery, but they do carry a moderate price tag. The TPLO (which cuts the bone and uses a plate) is typically more expensive than a lateral suture. For more in depth information, you may consult with an orthopedic surgeon about this disease. First, I just want to applaud you for adopting this pet. You definitely need to be commended for trying to save a life. In terms of the cost of a pelvic surgery, it depends on many factors. Those factors would include what area or location of the country you live in, how bad and what bones are affected in the fracture, and are there any other diseases or conditions that need to be fixed in addition to the fracture. So an estimate is very difficult to get to you in a fairly accurate manner. but I can take a guess And give you an idea of what it would cost for a pelvic fracture only in a healthy dog in the Midwest. This surgery on a small dog could cost anywhere from $850-$3500 depending upon the veterinarian performing it. Sometimes that range depends on whether it is a general practitioner doing the surgery or a veterinary orthopedic specialist. A TPLO would be the most appropriate surgery based on Bella's size but I have had several patients that have not undergone surgery and developed severe arthritis in the affected knee and had difficulty walking on the leg. Unfortunately, the arthritis tends to worsen and the pain can become much worse in an untreated knee. There are other options for correcting a torn ACL but may not be the most appropriate for Bella. The lateral suture technique is much more affordable, requires less time to perform (less time under anesthesia) and stabilizes the knee. I've used this technique in much bigger dogs than Bella and they have never failed. There is always the chance that the repair may fail with the lateral suture with a dog Bella's size or bigger but it will stabilize the knee. I would discuss this other option with your veterinarian. I would consider doing something the stabilize the knee so that Bella is more comfortable. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
