It's probably best to bring them inside, but it really depends on how warm their kennel is. If you can be sure that the kennel does not drop below 70 degrees F, then the pups should be fine. If you can't ensure this, then I would bring them inside to be safe. You can move everyone indoors and confine her and the litter to a small, warm room or you can insulate the dog house and protect it from the elements. I would hesitate to recommend placing a heat source for fear of fire or burns.

If you are talking about 40 degrees F°, that is definitively too cold for them as puppies cannot regulate their normal temperature for the first few weeks of life. Good question. That temperature is much too cold for a dog to be in for long periods of time. I would recommend keeping them indoors. Dogs can typically tolerate temperatures almost equivalent to us, but just 5 degrees greater or lower in most situations. Even still, there is individual variance. Great question! I would keep your puppy indoors in cold nights. Young puppies are not able to regulate their body temperature, and it would be best to keep it indoors where it is warmer. You can keep the puppy in a crate indoors to keep it from getting into things and having accidents in the home.

As long as its placed at a distance that prevents them from potentially bumping into it and burning themselves, then yes, you can. However, its often not needed, especially in the summer.,as long as momma dog is right there are they are in a protected area with bedding/blankets/and snuggling together.

There is no need for a heating pad. Mama does a great job keeping the temperature just perfect for the babies. There is a danger that if you use a heating pad under the puppies the temperature may be too high and hurt the puppies.
