New puppy owner: When can I give water and bathe my 1-month-old?

8 weeks old is the minimum age to begin bathing a puppy. Use a pet approved shampoo for puppies sensitive skin. She can be bathed every 6-8 weeks. You can use plain, unscented baby wipes or pet wipes to spot clean her in between baths. If you bathe her at night, dry her thoroughly and keep her war to prevent chill. It is best to bath her early in the day so she has ample time to dry off and doesn't go to sleep damp.

Yes you can bathe your pets using a puppy shampoo only. They can regulate their body temperature by week 2. And you should start vaccinating them when they are 6-8 weeks of age, but typically we start at 8 weeks. Bella is still too young to be away from her mother, but if she can't return to her mother, you will have to start weaning her onto dry puppy food and well as bottle feeding her with a puppy formula. Go out to a grocery store or pet store now to get a bottle and puppy formula. I recommend KMR. I will put a link below on how to bottle feed a puppy. To help her wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality puppy formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with puppy formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry puppy food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she is eating the dry puppy food only. She can sleep in a crate at night, but you will have to get up a couple times a night to let her outside to potty. She is too young to have a shower yet, she shouldn't be bathed until she is at least eight weeks of age, so you don't need to worry about that now. At 4 weeks of age it is normal for a puppy to only be drinking milk. Ideally your puppy should still be nursing from his mother at this age. If he is already away from his mother then you will need to continue feeding him puppy milk replacer until about 6 weeks of age. You can try to leave some moistened kibble with him to get him interested in it but at this age he should be still getting most of his nutrition from milk. I hope this helps. Hello, and thanks for your question. You can start both of these things anytime! 6 weeks of age is an ok time to start treats, and give a bath if needed. Just make sure the treats are used for training purposes only, and most of his nutrition is gained from a high quality puppy food. Hope this helps.

At this point mom has generally begun to wean her puppies. Offer water, regular dry kibble, kibble soaked in warm water and canned food. This does need to be a large breed puppy formula for the food. There’s a brand that makes a food specific for weaning puppies called Royal Canin and I recommend to pick some up at the pet store or online. You may need to smear some of the food on the puppy’s mouth so that it gets the idea. Also allow him to see mom eating so that he has the desire to copy her. He is too young for solid food, he needs puppy milk replacer only at the moment. in about 2 weeks you can start him on wet puppy food. regarding the sleep, that will rectify itself once he gets a little older.
