Why is my spayed older dog spotting blood all over the house?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 5 lbs

I have an older dog she's a rescue not sure exact age or breed guessing 12yrs. She's spotting blood all over house. I was told she is fixed. Not sure what's going on. Still eating and drinking. Any advice would be great. Funds are very limited right now so can't rush to vet.

If you have had her for a long time and she has never had this issue then she probably is spayed and the problem is caused by something else. Lulu could have a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or a tumor causing her to spot blood. The only way to know would be to have her examined by a vet. A vet can run a urinalysis to look for an infection and take an x-ray, if needed, to help diagnose. You could try to find a low cost clinic in your area and see if they could help. She may just need an oral antibiotic to treat an infection so it might not be too costly. Hope she gets better soon!
