Why is my older Lab not eating and vomiting after new puppy?

Poor pup! Labs are notorious for eating things they should not, and she could have a foreign body causing her symptoms. It could also be she has a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, or could have pancreatitis. Since she is not eating or drinking as well as vomiting, I would take her into a vet now. Fourteen is a good old age for a Labrador. Often they seem fine but they are frail and aren’t able to fight off infections like a young dog, and if she had trouble with her legs the lack of exercise may also have contributed. While she may not have enjoyed the new dog that shouldn’t have caused her illness unless it gave her the cold that became pneumonia. I'm sorry Leo isn't doing well at the moment! Given that both dogs have respiratory infection, his symptoms could be due to that. Respiratory infections cause a dog to be lethargic as well as have a decrease in appetite. Vomiting can occur with a respiratory infection because a dog can cough a lot leading to that happening. Diarrhea, however, isn't typically seen with a respiratory infection, and that could be caused by intestinal worms. Puppies typically care them, and if Leo hasn't been dewormed lately, he could have gotten them from your new puppy. Finally, I'm not sure if Leo has been fully vaccinated or not, but if he hasn't, his symptoms could be caused by parvovirus or distemper. Both are highly contagious and very serious. I don't think Leo is being jealous, I think he is legitimately ill. Because I can't see him in person to rule out something serious like parvo or distemper and because I don't know his vaccination status, I do think having him seen by a vet sooner rather than later is best. It's concerning he hasn't eaten or had much water in at least 24 hours, and it needs to be checked out by a vet. Please bring him into a vet today. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

She could simply be moping because of the new puppy. But there could be a medical reason: lyme disease, metabolic diseases (liver/kidney), viral infections, fever, foreign body ingestion or cancer. Watch her closely for any changes like vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, limping, etc. Try adding boiled chicken or hamburger to her dog food to tempt her to eat. Try taking her outside for her favorite activity with out the puppy-a nice walk, swim in the creek, dog park or play ball. See if that cheers her up! I hope this helps and good luck!

Prolonged inappaetance in a puppy is a serious concern and can rapdily lead to weight loss and nutritional problems. Please schedule a full health check with your vet to identify the underlying cause and start treatment as appropriate.

I would recommend experimenting with different dog food formulas, texture, kibble size, dry vs. canned, etc. and see if this helps. This can actually be a sign Ruby is sick. This is concerning, as labs are typically very food orientated. Keep an eye on her this weekend and if she is still like this on Monday, have her seen by a vet.
