My dog just had puppies, can I safely move them to a new house?

You can disinfect the backyard. With the mother, walk her away from the yard as you don't want to wipe her down with anything as the puppies are very sensitive to many things. If you walk her away from the yard and make sure she is up to date with her vaccines, the puppies should be safe. I hope this helps!

Unless your dog has a history of hurting her pups or you noticed that she is trying to hurt them, there should be no reason that you cannot leave her alone with her puppies. She is a mother, and mothers usually take good care of their babies.

You can move everyone indoors and confine her and the litter to a small, warm room or you can insulate the dog house and protect it from the elements. I would hesitate to recommend placing a heat source for fear of fire or burns.

If the pups are kept warm, there is no problem with her staying away from the puppies for 1/2 hour. If she does not get stressed out by being away from them, you can take her for a walk around the block up to 1/2 hour and later on even longer. It is important that the puppies do not get cold. It is best to take her out after the puppies suckled, and now are sleeping. Make sure they are in a box, so they cannot start crawling around when mom is gone.

Poor girl. I would recommend contacting a mobile vet to see if they can lure her away from the puppies to get them taken care of. A topical vet approved product may be able to be used on the puppies, off label, to help remove the fleas. Either that or a quick dawn detergent bath (if they are old enough to maintain their body temperature) and making sure not to get it in their eyes. Mama dog also needs to be treated for fleas with a product from your vet, as over the counters are typically topical and not recommended. The vet also may need to give her a mild oral sedative (i.e. trazodone) to help calm Emily enough to be able to treat everyone safely. It's important to get this done quickly to prevent severe blood loss anemia that can happen if the fleas are continued to have their blood meal on them. Taking them outside would not be recommended. At their age, their immune systems are not strong enough to resist potential infection. They should remain indoors for now. If they are able to wander away from mom, watch them to prevent mischief or injury. They will return when they are hungry. They will likely need to nurse every 6-8 hours.
