My two male dogs fight. Is unneutered status causing aggression?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 3 years and 6 months old | 65 lbs

I have a three year old male red nose pitbul who is nurtured and a now 11 month old male brindle pitbul. They use to get along great , until one day they broke out in a fight. After that day it became almost constant so now we have to keep them separated and bought muzzles for both dogs. The older one is very particular on what dogs he likes and plays with but he is starting the fights, I'm suspecting because we have not got the younger one nurtured is this common?

It is possible that your younger dog being unneutered may be contributing to the aggression between the two of them. I would also try to think of the situations in which they have fought to see if there are any toys or other resources that they may be protective of. Consulting with a veterinarian or behaviorist may be indicated to determine the best way to move forward with both of them.

They are getting aggressive because they are of the age of maturing and puberty. One is trying to establish dominance be the one in charge. The other dog is trying to fight back to stand his ground. It is best to not leave them together unsupervised so you can help control this situation. i would also recommend getting them neutered to help minimize hormones

It's possible that the dogs could get along better now that they are older or it might be worse. You should probably start with a slow introduction and see how they behave around each other. If there are any signs of aggression at all they should be separated again. You could also look into building a dog run or fenced pen so they can be outside separately.

Neutering both dogs at 1 year of age may help if this is related to the female (male dogs may still try to claim possession of her even if she is fixed). If the younger dog is already exhibiting undesirable behaviors, you may look at neutering him now. There is a possibility this is not related to the female. My young male dog is aggressive and protective. Will neutering help?

Now is the best time to neuter them both. Neutered males are more docile and make better pets. When they reach sexual maturity at around 6 months and their hormones go into full swing so to speak, they may act aggressive toward other males and want to become dominant in the household. If you wait too long, neutering will not help. I suggest neutering all dog sin the house as soon as possible, then the hormones will die down in a few weeks. At this time, implement a training program with a trainer or by doing some research. The behavior will most likely get better, but that is not definite. Neutering with combined training is your best plan to change his behavior. .
