Hello. Samson has a very nasty ear infection. Cost of treatment depends on what the going rate is in your area. I see you are in OK & costs are definitely less than in other parts of the country. You absolutely need to have your dog seen very soon regardless of the cost. He has to be very uncomfortable, possibly even painful. Just as a ballpark, I would say just to examine & try to diagnose what kind of infection is in the ear will run between $50 - $125. Treatment may run another $75- $250. All you can do is call around to see what an average ear infection might run keeping in mind that Samson's ear infection has gotten quite bad. But you do need to get started doing something soon. You can try to use an ear cleanser in the meantime which you can buy online or at your local pet store though if an infection is present this may help but will not resolve the issue and appropriate therapy for an infection is needed which is based on the organism present. Poor Baylee! I'm sorry that she has an ear infection. Unfortunately, this is not something that can be treated effectively without a vet visit. Ear infections are generally caused by yeast or bacteria, and require prescription ear drops to treat. There is nothing you can get over the counter that will be effective for this, so there's really no way around going to see the vet. Fortunately, there's no reason this would need to be an expensive visit - just the exam fee, and the cost of the medication. In the meantime, if she will let you, you can try using an over-the-counter ear flush like MalAcetic to clean her ears. This will not treat the underlying infection causing the redness and discharge, but it may help to make them a bit less sore and itchy until you are able to see the vet.

However, the concern with just starting an ear medication without examining the ear canals is that you may be administering ear medications in an ear with a ruptured ear drum.
